If you’re going to sign up with a poker site through an affiliate and start playing poker with rakeback, it's something you need to know. If you don’t know the calculation method for the rakeback, you won’t be in a good position to know how much rakeback you can expect to make.
There are a number of different ways to calculate rakeback. A good one for action players is the contributed rake method.
The contributed method works like this. For each raked pot, the players who contributed to that pot have contributed proportionally to the rake. If you put $4 into a $20 pot, the rake is $1. You receive credit with 20 cents of rake. You put 20 percent of the money in the pot so you pay 20 percent of the rake.
Some online poker sites and rakeback sites give equal rake credit to everyone involved in the hand. If you play many more pots than other players do, to the end and more often, this is a severe disadvantage to you.
By putting more money in the pot, you should get more credit. The contributed rake method assures that you get rake credit for all that money you contribute. If you’re a high game volume rakeback player, this becomes quite a lot of money in the long run.
At the end of the month, the contributed rake from all the games you played on that site add up. The poker sites rakeback software then calculates 30 percent (or whatever your rakeback arrangement is) of the total number.
You receive a refund based on the calculated amount, which goes into your poker account to use in whatever way you wish. Remember, you can only earn rakeback for the site you signed up with through the rakeback affiliate.
If you want to play on another site and earn rakeback, you will have to get another rakeback deal. If you have already signed up with a site, you cannot sign up with them again to earn rakeback.
