You are here: Home > Strategies > Checking
Not a particularly strong move, however, it can be useful with a loose/aggressive
player to your left who likes to fire at pots when holding the nuts. It’s
also a good move to help mix up your play. Sometimes check when you hit
the flop, other times, bet when hit the flop.
Checking is really useful if you hit nothing on the flop with for example QJu. There is a possibility that everyone else checks and you see a free card. The next card could end up giving you top pair and putting you in a strong position. Do beware of giving free cards yourself when attempting to check-raise. You will be giving them infinite odds if no-one bets!
